I’ve decided to take better control of what goes into my body. Keep in mind that just because my blog is about purchasing natural, organic and allergen-friendly products doesn’t mean they’re all good for you to consume on a regular basis. There is such a thing as organic junk food! I’ve had to face the cold hard fact that when I say, “But I buy these for my daughter!” or “McKinley LOVES these!” it’s all a load of crap. I seriously love Annie’s Cheddar Bunnies and Clif Kid Zbars. No joke. So I’m cutting out the snacky stuff and forcing myself to turn into “one of those” people who are health obsessed.
Day #1 of my 30 Day Challenge: Ran 1.56 miles in 16.02 minutes!
My 30 day challenge to myself is to 1.) not to get overwhelmed and eat what I know is good for me 2.) go jogging every. single. day and 3.) only eat at a restaurant once a week. I’m keeping it simple because there are SO MANY diet plans out there but what works for me is listening to my body. Drastically cutting my calorie intake just puts me in a bad mood, attempting to work out too hard and too often burns me out, Paleo can get extreme (crazy respect for you folks though!), Clean Eating is where it’s at but is a bit complex for now… the list goes on and on…
So Monday was day #1 of my new health nut approach. How do I feel about it today? Sore. I’ve been popping my vitamins, eating right and not over indulging so I’m happy. I even totally avoided the vending machines at work during my breaks. SCORE!
Also, here’s what I had for breakfast yesterday…
- 1 Slice of Rudi’s Organic 14 (Whole) Grain Bread
- 1 Tbsp. MaraNatha Organic Peanut Butter
- 1 Hard Boiled Egg-Land’s Best Organic Egg
- 8 oz. of Spiru-Tein Strawberry Shake
I followed it up with a nice early morning jog! The weather was gorgeous which made me even happier to be out of the house before work. In addition to jogging, after work I played racquetball with my husband for about an hour. Needless to say, I dropped into bed last night.
By the way, Bragg Organic Apple Cider Vinegar is so awesome but YUCK when you take a shot of it before meals. I’m trying to use it to help lose weight (which I hear works really well) but it’s disgusting. I knock back 1 tbsp. twice a day and I swear it’s going to put hair on my chest!
Update: I totally forgot to tell you why I’m going this for 30 days and it’s simple! Because it takes 21 days to change a habit so 30 should really engrave it in me. After that, I’ll come up with another 30 days challenge to tighten the reins even more. Basally, I’m taking baby steps to change my lifestyle 30 days at a time.
Anyway, I’ll do my best to keep you updated often on my 30 day challenge. If you’re currently trying to lose weight then I’d LOVE to hear your approach! Comment comment comment away!
*This is how I found McKinley last night right before I went to bed. She managed to DESTROY her room, color on the walls and take down various hanging decor. I guess it was all too exciting because that’s her sound asleep against her bookshelf (which of course she took all the books off of). Sigh. Guess what I’ve been cleaning today?
